Meticulously Handcrafted Paper Objects by Zim & Zou.

     Zim & Zou, also known as Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann, are a skilled paper crafting couple that specialise in creating handmade items out of various materials like paper, thread, wood, and leather. They produce original posters, editorial illustrations, and window displays. Along with work for the SXSW Film Festival and Hermès Maison Shanghai, some of their most recent projects include a poster for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to promote childhood immunisations.

    This piece is called "Winter Village." Most of the pieces made by Zim and Zou are colorful. And this one did not use many colors, but, amazingly, they used dark colors can still create a holiday vibe. I think this piece is more like Christmas Eve, as it used dark blue, and using complementary colors, pink as decoration, and this makes the house and lights pop out, even if it is just using paper, it looks like a real light. And because the setting is at night, and using white paper flakes, audiences can feel the peace inside this piece, which fits the title 'village.' 

    I chose this piece because I appreciate how they used color to create the atmosphere of an art piece. They used dark colors, but the audience can still feel the warmness, as they used warm colors to balance it. And I appreciate it.

    

    And they also collapsed with Hermes, and this is called the "Journey of a Lifetime." The meaning of this piece is we are the heroes of our odysseys. The intricate and enigmatic cockpit of the spaceship serves as a metaphor for life and the decisions we have to make. The main guy is traveling through his own life while observing the universe from behind. He is focused on achieving his objective, and he will stop at nothing to accomplish so. His most prized possessions and memories are traveling with him on this adventure. Many of his possessions flutter around in weightlessness as the safe is opened.

    And they also have a shop for people to buy their paper templates and do DIY. I think this is really cool that others can also make such beautiful paper craft.

    I chose these two artists because I like their color style. I like the way they combine different colors in the same piece, but it is not odd at all.
